There has been a long tradition of fine choral singing at St Andrew’s which continues to this day.
The choir numbers between 35 and 50 members, and is able to prepare a new anthem, suitable for the chosen texts and theme each Sunday.
Each section of the choir is led by a “Section Leader”, and in addition, there are a number of singers who are well known in Winnipeg musical circles, and who offer a solo from time to time.
Prior to worship at 10:30am on Sunday mornings, the choir gathers to rehearse at 10:00am.
The choir meets to practise on Thursday evenings from 8:00pm to 9:30pm, followed by a time of fellowship and refreshment. The choir “community” is a warm and welcoming one, and explains partly why numbers have been maintained over the years.
The choir has also presented special musical presentations over the years, including the performance of oratorios and operettas. For the past few years the choir has put on a very successful winter show.
New members of the choir are most welcome. Join us for a Thursday evening rehearsal, or contact Katy Harmer, or the Church office at 204-488-1130.

Check out this beautiful piece composed by our very own music director Katy Harmer and performed by some of our amazing singers from the church choir in February 2022. Katy Harmer explains The text is an adaptation of a prayer written by Bob Root: May the blessing of God, who made us in love, who made us for companionship, and who made us to enhance the world, go with us as we leave this place, go with us where life calls us to be. We go, but not alone. We go, loved and blessed, to be a blessing. Amen.
